Even in the late adolescent age of 76 years, Sir Paul McCartney shows no inclination to retire. On Wednesday evening he played in the sold-out Wiener Stadthalle.

Queues in front of the entrances were around the hall due to strict security controls. When McCartney started “Hard Days Night” at 8:15 pm (after a very lengthy introduction), everyone was in the hall.

And as usual at McCartney concerts, the level of enthusiasm went through the ceiling. Even the newer song “Save Us” was not applauded out of courtesy but out of joy and enthusiasm.

And on “Can not Buy Me Love,” everyone dove into Beatles bliss. McCartney greeted the audience with “Servus Vienna, how are you, Austria?”. After that came all the bigger and smaller hits, pieces by the Beatles (like “Hey Jude”, “Let It Be” or the traditional George Harrison homage with “Something” and ukulele) and McCartney/Wings pieces (like “Live And Let The” Or “Band On The Run”). This time the slope was rather hard and loud rock.

And at the very end came a marriage proposal. On the open stage, Kyle from Atlanta asked Martha from Canada for her hand. She agreed.

Today, Thursday, the world star will once again will be guesting in the Stadthalle.
